He has spent 30 years of his professional career at the Otolaryngology Clinic of the Medical University of Warsaw.
He specializes in otolaryngology, audiology, and phoniatrics. He received his professorship in 2005. He has been the Head of the Department and Clinic of Otolaryngology at the Medical University of Warsaw since 2003.
He has gained his knowledge and professional experience during numerous months-long internships, workshops, and courses at renowned international centers, including Paris, Lille, Brussels, and Hanover.
In the field of surgical techniques, particularly for the middle ear, he has introduced and described numerous methods, such as surgery for cerebellopontine angle tumors and vestibular nerve transection in the treatment of Meniere’s disease. The professor’s main areas of interest include middle ear surgery, skull base surgery, particularly acoustic neuromas, vertigo surgery, especially the surgical treatment of Meniere’s disease, middle ear implants, and cochlear and brainstem implants.
The professor has held numerous positions in scientific societies: Chairman of the Board of the Society of Skull Base Surgery from 2008 to 2011.
Chairman of the Board of the Polish Society of Otorhinolaryngologists and Head and Neck Surgeons from 2010 to 2012; Chairman of the Section of Otology and Otoneurology of the Polish Society of Skull Base Surgery from 2006 to 2009; Member of the Executive Committee of the European Society of Skull Base Surgery from 2009 to 2017; and representative of the Polish Society of Skull Base Surgery on the UEMS ORL Committee.
He is currently President of the European Society of Skull Base Surgery and has been a member of its Executive Committee for 11 years. He also represents Poland in the ENT Section of the European Union of Medical Specialists.
Since 2011, he has also served as editor-in-chief of the Polish Otolaryngology Review. At the initiative and under the editorship of Professor Kazimierz Niemczyk, a textbook for otolaryngologists entitled “Clinical Otolaryngology” was created.
He has held numerous positions at the Medical University of Warsaw, including: Dean’s Representative of the First Faculty of Medicine, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Chairman of the Academic Teacher Evaluation Committee, and Member of the Senate Committee on Finance and Teaching.
Professor Kazimierz Niemczyk has supervised 11 doctoral dissertations, supervised 1 habilitation thesis, and reviewed 3 habilitations and 1 professorship.
He has received numerous awards for his research and teaching from the Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw. He was also awarded the Gold Medal of Merit (2011), the Honorary Badge “For Merit in Healthcare” (2011), and the Medal of the National Education Commission.
